The developments in the health sector and the health reforms carried out globally and nationally have revealed that the need for the graduates of Health Management is increasing gradually. In this context, the aim of the Department of Health Management is to train the students as qualified health services managers, who have the necessary knowledge and ability to systematically and consciously implement the notions, principles, theories, models and techniques related to planning, organizing, leading, coordinating and controlling functions with an aim of achieving the goals of the health system, and also to contribute to the accumulation of scientific knowledge through the researches made in the field of health services management. The graduates of the program will carry the title of “Health Administrator”.
 

Educational activities in the Undergraduate Program of Health Management are committed to prepare the students for the future working environment.  In addition, the programme provides a basis for the graduate programs in health services management or in a similar field. A practice-based training model is aimed in line with the knowledge level of expertise that is attained in the field of health services management. Health Management Programme is consisted of courses providing knowledge in background studies, knowledge in the field of management (business administration, accounting, economics, law) and professional knowledge (health services management, organizational behavior in health services, financial management in health services, cost accounting in health services, quantitative techniques in health services, health economics, health policy, public health legislation, marketing in health services, etc.) and skills (field applications) in health services management. Health Management Programme lasts four years and has a total credit of 148. A summer internship is required at the end of the 6th Semester. There are two departments in the Department of Health Management: Hospital Management and Health Systems.

Health  Management has a wide range of employment opportunities. Labor force that will be created by this program is highly needed by both public and private institutions operating in the sector. The alumni have opportunities to work in organizations such as central or provincial institutions of the Ministry of Health, public and private health organizations, Social Security Institution, private and non-profit organizations performing in the several levels of health services, universities’ departments with similar academic disciplines or departments including health management courses in their curriculums, health related departments of media organizations, Turkish Armed Forces, institutions for medicine and medical consumables and insurance companies.
